A problem about LayerComps usage

Post by delizade »

Hi everyone,
this is my first entry, I glad to see a specific PS-Script board so, thanks every contributors and prime movers of this site.

And, I tried to explain my problem below:
Assume that:
1- there are 3 layers one of them is Logo on your document.
2- thare are 100 layercomps(pos., apperance, visibility are on)
3- AND you have to change Logo layer's position.
BUT, you want that layer's position same on all layer comps. if you have above settings, you can not update it easily. You have to update them one by one (apply comp, change logo position where should it be and update the comp after that go to the next comp to make same steps)

Question: How the hell I can update all my comps easily? I've tried to scripting but there is no fast and easy way to do that.

I think, after spent 3 hours for that, a long wah may be like below:
1- get all layers which you wanted to be same on all comps and hold all position, visibility and appearance data of them
2- loop one by one on all comps
a) activate comp
b) find layers(step 1 array list) in it
c) change its properties with holded values of that layer
d) update the comp

could it be easier or is there any easy way that can make me say "i am really such a stupid"
I hope I could explain the issue.
thank you!

A problem about LayerComps usage

Updating all comps is a very tedious process , especially if you have a global ui element that you need to adjust positioning and visibility across many comp layers.
Unfortunately, seems like creating a script to control layer comps seems pretty hard to do.....there's just not that much documentation for controlling these layer comps from what i've heard and researched. At the least, there is a way to control the visibility across many comp layers......
