I have this problem when displaying text info in my script. I have some existing text in my Psd file where it is giving me a decimal point value, even though the size is showing a whole number. See my attach psd file for what I mean.


Here's the font info my script generates:
Font: Arial-BoldMT
Size: 24 px
Color: #FFFFFF
Justify: Center

but for some reason, some text shows up like this:
Font: Arial-BoldMT
Size: 31.7837791442871 px
Color: #FFFFFF
Justify: Center

Anyone can shed some light on this? I know the code is quite complex and long.....but the text info code is near at the bottom of the script....

It is printing the correct font size, as the size you are checking is the original size before any transformation and this text layer has been reduced to 24 pixels, I have add a check and it will now print the actual size of the font.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for giving this some attention and really appreciate your effort.
I've tried this updated script and it doesn't give the decimal point anymore........ but it's not quite solved the problem just yet.

The text info display's this as size "18px" when in fact the character panel states that this is 24px. Is it possible to display the correct and actual font size?

I wouldn't have a clue, gettting details from text is a dark art. I have noticed that the UI can display one figure when the actual font is a different size. The latest update to Photoshop did fix a lot of problems with text layers. Getting the size of the text only shows the original text size before it has been transformed (This is sometimes shown in the UI) If it has been transformed it needs to be multiplied by the yy as in amendment.
Before the CS6b update I was getting PSDs that I could not access the size, fontname, postscriptname etc. Maybe this could be yet another problem?

Thanks for the explanation. I tried this new update on my CS5 version at home and it gave the 18px value, had a suspicion that this will actually work properly on CS6 and it does.....it display's as 24px.

for CS5 or lower versions, is it possible to just append a code to add +6(24-18) to these formerly transformed text elements?

That would not be a good idea as it would only show correct results if the original font size was 18 anything else the result would be wrong. The answer is to get the bug fixed.
