How to tell if script is being recorded in an action?

Is there anyway to have a script sense if its currently being recorded into an action? I have a script that uses playback parameters. I would like for this script to give the user a popup window with some choices regarding how the script should be played back when the action is ran. However, I only want this window to appear if the script is currently being recorded.
