[10 October - I am releasing the CS2 / Bridge version of my Image Review script. You can select a group of images in Bridge and then either launch the script directly from Bridge (using my Bridge Script Launcher), or go to Photoshop and launch it from there - in either case it will have access to the list of files elected in Bridge. For CS users, the script continues to work with the File Browser as well]
[28 November: new Version: couple of minor bugfixes and one substantive improvement.
If you have:
In the Source Panel: SubFldr ticked
In the Destination Panel: Same Folder (as source) unticked and AutoFolder ticked
Then the folder structure of the source images will be replicated in the Destination folder.]

AH Digital Image Reviewer is for your jpg and tiff files (or any other file types except raw files) straight out of your digital camera.
The first steps in processing these images (even before initial archiving) are image review and renaming:
1. Review images and perhaps provide an initial organization into appropriate categories (keepers, deletes, best shots, family images, landscape etc.);
2. Rename images so archived images, source images and processed images all have the same names.
3. Convert files to desired processing and output formats. While you might shoot your images in jpg, for processing and printing you might prefer to work in tif format. It is possible to do these conversions without any review step making the Image Reviewer a straight Image Processor. The powerful file-selection tools are very useful if you want to process only certain files within the target folder, as is the File Browser / Bridge integration which allows you to process only selected fies.
For step 1 (review) to be effective you must be able to inspect the images closely and at full size. Otherwise you cannot tell if the image is blurred, shows shadow noise or is defective in some way. With Photoshop neither the File Browser (CS) nor Bridge (CS2) is enough.
Andrew Hall Image Reviewer automates these steps while retaining total flexibility in how you work with each individual image.
Automates Image Review:
Review your images at full size and full quality - work in Full-Sceeen mode at any zoom level you wish or use the G-Viewer to quickly zoom in on the key parts of your image at 100%.
Control your Review Process - you can select images to keep, select images to delete, view and review your delete list and move backwards and forwards through your images to ensure selection of the right ones.
Apply Keywords to images as you review them - allows you to later select images within multiple categories once review is completed.
Powerful File Renaming and File Handling:
Automates renaming of the source file and of the processed output files - including the incorporation of metadata (e.g. camera based image creation date/time) in the file name.
Automates the destination folder for the raw file and the processed file.
Can be run across a system of subfolders and can screen for file extension and file name.
Allows user-created actions to be played on the processed files for maximum power, flexibility and ease of use.

If source image has no embedded profile and you selected jpg / sRGB it asks you to asign a profile to the source image before the conversion to a new profile is done. This assignment will apply to ALL subsequent images which do not have a profile.
