Paid Commission – Photoshop Watermark Automation Tool (Transparency Initiative)

Post by TheAllusionist »

Hello,

I am seeking an experienced Photoshop ExtendScript developer for a paid commission.

This project supports CAHDD™ (Computer Aided Human Designed & Developed), a not-for-profit, community-driven framework that enables creators to voluntarily disclose workflow stages in a clear and professional manner.

Before responding, please review the “How It Works” page at CAHDD.org for context on the stage system this tool will support.

This is not a commercial SaaS product. It is an infrastructure tool intended to reduce friction for creators who want to implement transparent disclosure within their workflow. The finished tool will be freely distributed as part of the CAHDD™ initiative.

We compensate fairly for professional work.

For Phase 1, the core minimum (MVP) requirements are:

• ExtendScript (.jsx)
• Stage dropdown (0–5 + X)
• Insert PNG watermark as a new layer
• Auto-scale relative to document dimensions
• Corner positioning options (BR, BL, TR, TL)
• Margin control
• Opacity control
• Save As copy (preserve format/profile)
• CS5+ preferred, CS6+ acceptable if necessary

Expanded feature wish list, if efficient to implement:

• Batch folder processing
• Optional filename suffix (_CAHDD3)
• Optional XMP metadata injection
• Preset memory
• Architecture allowing future expansion

We recognize that developers here are the experts in Photoshop scripting and plugin architecture. We welcome input on feature feasibility, cost impacts, compatibility trade-offs (CS5 vs CS6+), and architectural decisions that would improve stability and maintainability.

Our goal is not to value-engineer the project down to nothing, but to make informed decisions about scope and sequencing. We are open to guidance on how to build a strong, extensible foundation within practical budget realities.

We intend to begin with a streamlined core version that establishes a stable base. As adoption grows, we anticipate expanding features based on real user feedback. We are interested in working with a developer who values thoughtful architecture and may be open to longer-term collaboration.

Collaboration & Visibility:

Because this tool will be freely distributed and associated with a growing transparency initiative, we are open to structured collaboration incentives. These may include:

• Developer credit within the software
• Link-back placement on CAHDD.org
• Logo placement under our “Exploring Human-Centered Questions Together” section
• Mention in distribution materials and documentation
• Case study or feature profile

Fee structure can be discussed in a way that reflects both professional compensation and the potential visibility value of alignment with the CAHDD™ initiative.

Final selection will not be based solely on price. Alignment, experience, architectural approach, and long-term fit matter.

This initiative exists to support creator-defined transparency standards before automated classification and labeling systems become default.

Please respond with:

• Estimated cost range
• Timeline
• Relevant scripting examples
• Compatibility recommendations

Thank you,

Russell Thomas
