ActionSetChanger, more power to the Action Palette

Post by Timo Autiokari »

With the ActionSetChanger you can change (switch) the ActionSet that is displayed (loaded) to the Actions Palette. With only two mouse clicks.

ActionSetChanger is opened from an Action Button, it shows a dialog containing the names of your selected Action Sets, click on an entry and that Actions Set will swiftly replace the one that is currently loaded in the Actions Palette (and belongs to your selected Action Sets).

So only one of those Action Sets that belong to the operation of the ActionSetChanger is loaded by the ActionSetChanger to the Actions Palette at any given time. There can be other (by name) Action Sets manually loaded, ActionSetChanger does not unload them.

The dialog will remember its location, so place it below the ActionSetChanger Button and it will be very rapid to use. An example of the dialog:

The ActionSetChanger makes it very easy to use organized Action Sets, very efficiently. With the additional benefit that the size of the Actions Palette can be kept decently small.

It is easy to take into use:

1) Save both the 'ActionSetChanger.jsx' and 'ActionSetChanger_main.jsx' to the same folder, any folder will do.

2) Create a folder 'ActionSetChanger' to a suitable location, any location on your HDD will do.

3) MODIFY the 'aFolder' variable in the 'ActionSetChanger_main.jsx' accordingly. It is the path to your new ActionSetChanger' folder.

4) Copy or move those of your Action Sets that you want include to the operation of the ActionSetChanger into the above new folder.

5) Create a new Action Set 'ActionSetChanger'.
6) Create a new Action with the name 'ActionSetChanger' to the above created Set.
7) Record the File/Scripts/Browse... 'ActionSetChanger.jsx' (not this script, but the loader) as the only Step to the above created Action.
8) Save the above created 'ActionSetChanger' Action Set to the disk, NOT to the folder that was created in step 2).

The steps 5, 6, 7 and 8 creates the 'ActionSetChanger' Action Button that resides as the only Button in the 'ActionSetChanger' Action Set.

Thats it.

Anytime you want to add or remove Action Sets from the operation of the ActionSetChanger simply copy or remove Action Sets from the ActionSetChanger folder.

I put it on my own site because I get an error message when trying to attach the zip file.
