I work at a photo studio where after the season is over, we have to go into ever folder we've created and flatten the psd's (but still leave them as psd) to reduce their size on our servers.

I came across that "picture processing" script on here, but it didn't seem to work for the amount of pics we needed it to process (around 7,000 at a time). It acted like it was doing something, and then froze, and then functionality was restored...but nothing in the folder or the sub-folders was flattened.

Is there a script on here that will do just what I need it to, that works with Photoshop in the CS5.5 suite?

Thanks I'll check it out and get back to you.

EDIT: I did in fact try this, although I was so tired I can't remember if it did what it was supposed to, or if it choked like the other one. Guess I'll try again lol.

Drop a note to Russell Brown if you do any CS5.5 testing. I don't expect there to be any problems but I haven't done any testing yet myself.

Ok. Russell Browns script doesn't let you select by the file type, that's what the problem was for me.

Our folders have a mix of jpg's and psd's and I need it to target only psd'd.

The picture processor plugin located on this site seems to stutter and close out when I set it like so:
  • I chose my folder, and tell it to process sub-folders and to ALSO save them in place.
  • I set the searchable file type to psd.
  • I ask it to flatten, convert to 8bit, and then save out.
  • I set the saved file type to psd as well.
So my only choice right now is to do a manual search for psd on my volume, and use a droplet for a flatten action I have currently...unless someone else has a better idea?

Select the files you want (by type or whatever) in Bridge and launch Image Processor (Pro) from Bridge. Of course, if you have the
files scattered across multiple folders, this wouldn't work. I'm trying to talk Dr Brown into also adding a File Selector as a source
so you could select psd files from whatever folders you want. The Load Files into Stack has the kind of UI I'm talking about for that.

Yeah they are scattered across multiple folders and we can't move them as they are client specific.
