apply adjustment layers?

Just noticed that the original poster’s request has issues.
For example an Adjustment Layer that affects the mid-tones set above a semi-transparent black Layer would cause an effect in the original layered file but when merged to the Layer it would not.

Yes, I think with all the interaction between layer settings such as opacity, blend-mode, blend-if, etc and masking or clipping groups it may not be possible to apply an adjustment layer to each layer below it and maintain the same appearance.

Even if it is possible to track down all the issues I am not sure it would be worth the effort. I don't understand the benefit/reason for wanted to remove the adjustment layer but keep the art layers.

I guess I can understand possible reasons for this.
I’ve seen some very inefficient Layer structures (for example caused when people have to work under extreme, albeit often totally unnecessary time-pressure and maybe also simply because of laziness and/or ignorance) and probably have cerated a bunch myself, too, so when having to further edit files it would occasionally seem desirable to be able to simplify the file’s whole structure.

An additional hiccup would be if higher Adjustments are Layer Masked with respect to lower pixel content; then applying those Adjustments to even lower pixel layers could really mess things up for repositioning.
