Hi Csuebele, I was hoping you were right about un checking the box next to Resize Image During Place in Preferences, but I tried it and still got the same results. I did try adding SO layers but using them to replace with new images is a little less elegant and would require re-doing about 60 templates with numerous openings. I think the file sizes of these would probably grow quite a bit using that method.

It must be because you are using the UK version of Photoshop. LOL
Well, it has to be something on my end because when I run the script I get the images sized bigger than the entire document. Did it on 3 computers so far so just not sure if I have them set up to cause the problem. I can use your other scripts fine, and numerous scripts work fine too. I'll keep trying different things to see if I can straighten it out on my end. Thanks for all your help.

Ok, I just tried on on older Windows XP machine running Photoshop CS3 and it worked with your masking script. Go figure!

Strange things do happen, I know that a lot of problems occur if I am running ExtendScript Toolkit. It might be a another program that's conflicting, twain can and does affect batch. So it could be something like that.
