"Load into Stack" but with PSD layers intact?

I'm looking for a way to expand on PS' existing "Load files into stack" script. Right now when I load multiple PSD-files with the script, all the files get flattened. What I need though is the PSDs to not be flattened, but instead that for each merged PSD a layer group is created and all the file's layers stay intact in each group. How can I do this?

There is a problem (well, at least one):
If the images are different Color Modes or even Color Spaces the appearance may change and certain Adjustment Layers may simply not be able to be transferred.
