Hello,
I want to learn how to script for Photoshop, but I've never written a line in my life. Is there a video/book explaining how to start? What are the best tools for a complete beginner?
Thanks for your help/suggestions.

There is not a lot to choose from. The only books I know about are either out of date(PS7) are just bound printed versions of the scripting guides that ship with Photoshop.
I suggest that you find a task that you would like to script, post the details and we will help you as much as you want/need. It's really not that hard and I feel the best way to learn is by working on something that will be useful to you.

Thank you very much for your offer, Mike. I'll keep it in mind for when I'm ready to start scripting. It won't be now though, as I'll be gone for 2 months...
Thanks again,
Sylvia

Search for the latest version of X's tool kit… A link to this should be in his forum listed in the main board here. After installing that there is a action 'ActionToJavascript' that you can run it will be loaded in the 'XToolkit' action set… That you will now have in your Photoshop actions palette.

That's a very helpful page for the work I'm doing. Seems you are a specialist in this field...it helped me to get going.
