Illustrator *.ai Inspector Panel…

Post by larsen67 »

Heres a little utility script that helps with Adobe Bridge's limited information regarding files of a graphic nature (not an image format)… Got CS4 or CS5 and Bridge can't show you the dimensions of the file? Then this 'may' help you out… When placed in your Bridge start-up scripts folder and relaunched you should get… An Inspector Panel show in Bridge's Panels that looks like the posted link image… What this inspector should show you on a single *.ai selection in the browser window is…

1. The File name… (pretty self-evident)
2. Last Modified… (ditto this)
3. Your File Creator Version…
4. Your File Saved as Version…
5. PDF Media Box… (in 'mm' units for now and based on first page only)
6. PDF Trim Box… (ditto this)
7. PDF Bleed Box… (ditto this)
8. PDF Art Box… (ditto this)
9. The Color Model… (either RGB or CMYK with Illustrator files)
10. The Artboard Count…
11. The Layer Count… (this is top level layers only, the ones that make it to PDF OCG's)
12. The Used Process Separations… (if a file is RGB then this 'should' be what it 'will' separate to)
13. The Used Spot Color Count… (this is the ones used in the file and NOT the document swatches)

With larger complex files it may take a second to receive the required info but this was as fast as I could make this…
Should there be any interest then other Measurement Units can be added… And I'll move on to version 1.1 beta…
