Script to Reize and Rename

Hi everyone I am here to enlist help please. I know nothing about scripting.
I am looking to make a script that will duplicate my file , then flatten , then rename, then resize on the long edge.
about RENAMING
If file name = ORIGINAL.psd I want the rename to be ORIGINAL-(whatever I want)
can any one help ? Thank you ,
